Bryant-Clem Scholarship

      The Bryant-Clem Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior at Pike Central High School in the amount of $500.  To be eligible, you must be planning to enroll full-time in a post-secondary program (four-year college, two-year college, technical or career college) in the fall immediately following graduation.  The award will be mailed directly to the institution you plan to attend.  If after being selected for the award, you cannot attend college as planned, or in the event of an early withdrawal, the scholarship award will be refunded to the Bryant-Clem Scholarship Fund.

      Type a letter to the scholarship committee which includes the following items:

1.       Give a brief description of an experience or event which has occurred in the past four years that you feel has been very significant to you and your decision to attend college.

2.       Describe your post-secondary plans.  What school do you plan to attend?  Have you been accepted?  What are your career plans?

3.       Explain why you need the scholarship.

      Enclose the following items with your letter and application:

1.       A high school transcript, which includes SAT or ACT scores

2.       Three (3) letters of character reference:
a.       One from your minister, priest, or Sunday School teacher
b.       One from a member of the faculty at Pike Central
c.        One from an individual of your choice

      All letters of application are due in the Pike Central Guidance Office by April 15 of the school year.  Award selection will be determined by the scholarship committee.  Class rank, SAT/ACT scores, financial need, and citizenship are some of the criteria that will be used in the selection process.

 Carroll-Wyatt Scholarship Fund

The value of the Carroll-Wyatt Scholarship Fund  is a minimum of $500 per year for a maximum of four years.  Checks are made payable to the college of your choice and will be mailed to the recipient.   You must enroll in college the fall after graduation from Pike Central and be in continuous attendance.  You must be a full time student  (12 credit hours each semester) and have a GPA of at least a 2.0  If the winner finds it impossible to attend college, he or she should contact Mr. Wayne Malotte at 354-8584.    In case of withdrawal, refunds will be made directly to the Carroll-Wyatt Scholarship Fund. All letters of application are to be mailed to Mr. Wayne Malotte P.O. Box 305 Petersburg, IN   47567. Application due April 15 of the school year.

  1. Type a letter to the trustee of the Carroll-Wyatt Scholarship Fund explaining why you need this scholarship.
  2. Please enclose the application form.

 Eligibility requirements:

  1. Students attending Indiana University, Purdue University and DePauw University (covered by the Dr. T.R. Rice Scholarship) are not eligible to receive the Gladish Scholarship
  2. You must enroll in college the fall after graduation from high school and be in continuous attendance.
  3. You must be a full time student – 12 credit hours each semester - and maintain a GPA of at least 2.0.

Include the following with your application:

  1. A wallet size picture of yourself
  2. A transcript of your high school or college grades including class rank
  3. A 300-word essay entitled “Why I am going to College.”
  4. Three letters of character reference from Minister, Sunday School Superintendent, Teacher or employer who know you well.

Value of the Gladish Scholarship is a minimum of $200 per year for a maximum of four years.

Delta Theta Tau Scholarship

Delta Theta Tau Scholarship will award a competitive scholarship of up to $500 to a graduating Pike County senior.  This will be a one-time award, payable to any accredited college or vocational school.  Selection will be made based upon the following criteria:

-          Demonstration of financial need

-          Academic Achievement

-          Community Involvement

-          Application and Essay Response

Martha Gregory Music Scholarship

1.      When completed, this application, letters of reference, and reasons for wanting to major in music must be presented to the Vance Hays- Pike Central High School-Room E154/E101

3.      Applicant must be planning to enter the field of music (any area).

4.      Include on the application any music activities in which you have participated (ex:  private lessons, recitals, school, civic or church activities)

5.      This scholarship may be used at any accredited college, university, or conservatory which offers a major in a music field.

6.      The Martha Gregory Music Scholarship selection committee shall be made up of the Pike Central music faculty, a guidance counselor, and one community representative chosen by the committee.

7.      The Martha Gregory Music Scholarship will be awarded to a Pike Central Senior student who is planning to major in music in college.  In the event that no students apply or qualify for this scholarship, the amount usually awarded shall remain in the fund.

·         Appropriate letters of recommendation

4.  Need will be considered in determining the recipient of this award.

5.  The scholarship becomes effective only when the recipients enroll in a college, junior college, university or vocational school.

6.  Value of these scholarships will be for one time only and for no less than $400.00.  Scholarships will be awarded to two candidates each year.

7.  Candidates must have a good attendance record for their high school years.

This is a $500.00 scholarship awarded by the Petersburg Jaycees to a graduating senior at Pike Central who is going to attend Purdue University majoring in Pharmacy.  (All students going to attend Purdue are welcome to apply – if there is a year we do not have any pharmacy majors we will still award to a non-pharmacy major.)  It will be awarded one time only at the beginning of your 2nd semester.

THE RUBY AND GIB STRATE FAMILY FOUNDATION TRUST

  1. Scholarships will be given to those students that the Board feels are likely to succeed in their post college plans regardless of their displayed abilities in high school.
     
  1. The scholarship is open to all graduating high school students from any school in the United States or its territories.  Preference will be given to students who display a desire to pursue a career that promotes Christianity.  Additional preference will be given to Knox County, Indiana school systems.
     
  1. Applicants must attach a wallet sized photo of themselves, their official school transcripts, and an essay not to exceed one typed written page entitled “My Plans After College”.
     
  1. Completed applications should be mailed to Ruby and Gib Strate Family Foundation
