Our school has been chosen to participate in a family program for youth ages 10-14 and their parents. This program is being offered to us through Youth First. This program will begin on Tuesday, January 24 at 5:30PM and will continue for the next 6 Tuesday evenings.
Here is how the program works. We serve dinner from 5:30-6:00 then from 6:00-7:00 the parents and youth split up for two separate groups. The youth talk about setting goals, dealing with stress, peer pressure, and following rules. The adults learn from each other different ideas on: giving clear directions, setting limits, problem solving, and parent/child communication.
Everything about the program is free, including the meals and childcare for other younger children. Facilitating the program will be: Ms. Arleen Petty, Mrs. Amber Russell, and Mrs. Ashley Hale.
