Discipline

The purpose of the discipline policy is to provide a safe and orderly environment in which learning can occur for all students. It is the goal of Pike Central Middle School to provide our students with the means to become responsible, productive, and confident citizens. Discipline is as fundamental in school as it is in everyday life. The Principal's door is always open to students, staff and parents.  We believe that disciplinary action should be progressive. That is, the severity of punishment increases as the severity of infractions and the frequency of infractions increases. We want students to share in the responsibility for good school discipline to help develop a climate within the school that is conducive to learning.  When a student violates a guideline, we expect the student to admit their mistake and seek to make the situation as right as possible.  A student will be disciplined when he/she ignores his/her responsibilities or infringes on the rights of others to learn.

The student handbook outlines in detail the procedures regarding student discipline.
