Indiana has established statutory guidelines that school corporations must follow when consideration the cancellation of a teaching contract. Per IC 20-28-7.5, a teacher is allowed to request separate meetings with the school superintendent and the school board before the school board can vote on the cancellation. Each step impacts the timing of the next step of the process.
A special board meeting, which is open to the public, was posted last week. Over the weekend, requests were received which impact the agenda items for the special meeting. Therefore, the public meeting scheduled for 6:00 pm on April 20, 2026, has been postponed at this time and will not held tonight.
